366 Day Photo Project - 2012 : I have done several smaller everyday projects, but I have never attempted a 365 Day Photo Project. So that is what I've started, and 2012 will be the year I shoot at least 1 picture a day. Of course 2012 is actually a leap year so this will be my 366 Day Photo Project.

I usually thrive on having a project with some sort of specific topic or idea to shoot from. This project doesn’t really have a specific topic or idea. The goal is to shoot at least one picture everyday. It definitely seems like an easy way to keep myself shooting, no matter what. So here goes…

Percipience - Fall 2008

70 Days Project - Fall 2008 : This 70 Day Project was very interesting. I recommend every photographer shoot this way, at least once in their life. It not only tells you a lot about your photographic style, but it is a very interesting way to look at your life.

I spent 70 consecutive days shooting as many pictures per day that I wanted. Below are the best images from each day.

I found that as I was recovering from my knee surgery, the pictures got boring, and I wanted to delete them. But the point is to take pictures no matter what, even if they may seem boring.

70 Days Project - Fall 2008

Marriage Project: 1 Year - Fall 2008 : This is a project I plan on returning to many, many times. The plan is to do a small photographic study of my marriage at least once a year. The first shoot was done in black and white in the fall of 2007. This 1 year re-visit was shot in the fall of 2008.

Marriage Project: 1 Year - Fall 2008

Congratulations - Fall 2008 : In 2008 I begun working with my graduation cards that I had received four years prior, when I graduated from high school. I knew I wanted to do something with them, and began experiementing. I finally landed on the "Congratulations" project. These are all 5x7's and are kept inside of a little box. There is no specific order, and each time someone looks at them the order can be rearranged. My initial thought was that while each one of these messages was very personal to me, it had the potential to remind almost everyone of what was said to them when they graduated.

The cards were scanned into photoshop where they were inverted and printed onto transparent paper. Then I used the transparencies to print each card 5x7, in the darkroom, onto Ilford Multigrade IV RC Glossy Paper.

It's A Girl - June 2008 : This was my final project for my Color Darkroom class in the summer of 2008.

The originals were shot with Fujifilm 100 speed film and printed onto 20x24 Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre Paper.

Chad series was shot with Ilford FP4 Plus and the Morganne series was shot with Ilford HP5 Plus. Both were developed by me.

Remade Project - May 2006 : Spring of 2006 I had a "Remade" project in school, the goal was to remake another photographer's images the best we could. I chose to remake a few of Edward Weston's nudes, using a dear friend as my model. They turned out beautifully and one even ended up in the Annual Juried Art Show at my school.

Games - May 2006 : I found my parents collection of vintage games to be rather wonderful, and began photographing it. I started coloring these 5 years after I photographed them to add some fun and dimension.

Photo 102 - Fall 2005 : I was glad to get back into the darkroom for Photo 102. I learned a lot about the technical side to shooting film and printing in the darkroom.

These are some images from my Photo 102 class.

Digital 101 - Fall 2004 : After my first Black and White Darkroom Photo Class, I took Digital 101. These are photos from that class. We were using Canon PowerShot G3's, little digital point and shoots that were 4 mega pixels. The memory card that came with it held something like 18 pictures at a time, and I didn't have enough money to buy another expensive CompactFlash card. My entire collection of work from this semester is just over 1 gigabyte. I have individual images that are close to 1 gigabyte on their own now. Times sure have changed.

I didn't enjoy this Digital class as much as being in the darkroom. So I was really happy to get back into the darkroom for Photo 102. I took darkroom classes until they made me take another Digital Class in the Spring of 2008.

Digital 101 - Fall 2004

Photo 101 - Spring 2004 : I took my first photo class in the spring of 2004. It was just for fun; I didn't expect to continue in the study of photography. I didn't think my parents would pay for me to study photography. So when my Photo 101 teacher asked me if I was going to continue on, I said probably not. He said that would be a shame and that I should keep taking classes to see how my work develops. So I thought to myself, why not? I asked my parents, and they told me that I should study what I wanted to. I took Digital 101, Photo II and then my last semester at The College of Southern Maryland, my teacher asked me if I would be one of the six students he needed to create a Photo 103. Before I knew it, I had spent my first two years in college studying and loving photography.

This work is all from my first Photography Class: Photo 101. Which was the beginning of my exploration of this world through a lens.
